First of all I have to warn you the following blog is written by me, a GTJunkie and while I won’t always have any sources to link to you must understand you are reading the predictions I think we might see in the GT5 2.00 update. I expect the update to be deployed at approx 4am BST on Thursday 20th (Oct) as this is the usual time which PD make changes to GT5.
Social:
First of all I think we will see Twitter functionality added in the 2.00 update. Not only is the GT5 messaging service limited to the same 140 characters Twitter has but also as @Kaz_Yamauchi is all to familiar with Twitter it would make sense to add the ability to tweet out your xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx room number straight from the game. Posting in game Photo’s may also be an option if Twitter becomes built in to GT5.
Replay:
Improved video playback controls would be greatly appreciated. Currently it is very hard for users to create and edit videos using PC software. With nor fast foward or rewind controls it’s very time consuming to sit through long races restarting the video over and over again trying to capture 1 single important piece of action from multiple angles.
DLC:
With DLC already confirmed later on this month (October) the 2.00 update may show hints of future DLC to come. Maybe new sections where new tracks may appear or a new DLC garage section where all your purchased cars will appear.
Fixes:
Many fixes need to be made such as the penalties. The GT5 penalty system is not quite there yet. Car collision penalties need to be re-worked and the corner cutting detection on many tracks need to be fixed.
We may also see many tweaks and fixes made to the online side of the game such as seeing a display while you’re driving which tells you how far (in seconds) you are behind the car in-front and in-front of the car behind. This would be a very welcome feature as so far it only tells you how far you are behind the car in first place.
An adjustment to the tyres would make a big difference too. At the moment there is no need to use hard tyres unless the host has limited the tyres to hard. If its an unlimited race (in terms of tyres to be used) the hard tyres are for the most part an unused option. They last about the same time as soft tyres and don’t grip as much. With slower lap times and still the same number of pits needed to finish the race they do not have any use.
I’ve heard some people complaining about the slipstream being too powerful but I personally don’t think its a problem at the moment. Still we may see some adjustment made to it.
Cars:
I wouldn’t be surprised to see all the standard cars now available in premium. If this is built in to the 2.00 update I’m sure it will be a very hefty download. who knows, it could be an extra 6GB’s or so. ( I pulled that figure out of thin air so don’t go trolling in the comments too much ;) With over 800 cars brought to premium level I’m sure it wouldn’t be a small update.
New Features:
Some kind of online drifting event would be nice to have, could be seeing it added maybe?
Online lobby rally stage events would be good. As the cars kick up a hell of alot of dust on track it can make overtaking on off-road tracks near impossible. A new type of race event which sets cars off every 30 sec’s would be a great way to use the off-road tracks in an online lobby setting more effectively.
There was originally supposed to be some kind of city which lets you drive your cars at realistic speeds in a city setting, with traffic lights and other traffic. This could be included in the 2.00 update. It would probably be just like the pure white city you sometimes see on the main GT5 menu.
Being able to generate a point to point track would be nice to see.
Some kind of clan/club system would really help with seeing which leagues or clubs drivers are associated with. The ability to create a league vinyl sticker for your league and giving the drivers within that league the option to apply it to their cars would let everyone know who you drive for.
League championships held via the Gran-Turismo website would seriously make this game take off.
Youtube would be a great addition to GT5 in the 2.00 but I think they still have much work to do on that part of the game to get it working correctly. It was originally dropped because Kaz was not happy with the rendering time. Maybe just adding more controls to the video replay will help users create videos and publish them online in a faster manner significantly improving the fan made video content.

The coming Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2 update is an update that contains the feedback from the users playing GT5 online every day. We have added cars such as the newest NASCAR race cars, but many of the updates are those that improve usability and expand the field of game play. I believed from the initial release of Gran Turismo 5 that it would be the users that would make the game grow thereafter, and we added things like interior views for the standard models because there was a lot of request for it from our users. You could say that this update is the shape and form of GT5 that was created through the opinions of our fans.
Soon after the 2.00 update is live we can expect the following DLC packs to becoem available, “racing car pack”, a “course pack”, and a “racing gear pack” however the exact date for these packs has not yet been announced but it’s looking like approx 1 week after the 2.00 update.

I highly doubt the all cars will be in premium in 2.00. I think they could be working on it, maybe release it on some DLC, but I don’t think they’ll have it by this year
Well this is easy to say now 2.00 has been released.
