I’ve been really enjoying the video making process over the last few months and with a few seriously exciting projects in the works I also enjoy using video game footage as content source. While I really enjoy the video recording and editing process I also enjoy being paid by way of google ads. For the most part I have stopped using video game footage in my videos as it seems difficult to get permission to use the footage which leads to me not being able to use ads on youtube. Would it not make sense for video game developers to allow fans to create videos of their favourite games as it can only make more people want to make youtube videos further advertising the game?

Why would I spend hours, days or even sometimes weeks working on a video game video only to have my monetisation request denied?
Come on you guys, give us full permission to use your content to further advertise your games while making a little money for our time in the process, it doesn’t cost you anything.
Further more, Battlefield3 now allows users to rent severs on PS3 and the prices aren’t exactly cheap. The only reason I can see myself renting one is to use it for recording content for a youtube video but as it’s seriously difficult to put ads on BF3 videos I can’t see the point.

EA does allow us to use gameplay footage for videos on YouTube, but monetizing those videos is where they have a problem. I too have a channel full of BF videos, however slowly, one by one, YouTube is denying monetization of those videos while other games are ok. DICE has always let us post footage, so long as it wasn’t alpha software but EA owns them and it’s their IP.
